Cuff: Some tracheostomy tubes have an inflatable cuff located just above the opening in the trachea. When inflated, the cuff creates a seal to prevent air leakage and aspiration of fluids into the lungs.

Inner cannula: Many tracheostomy tubes consist of an inner cannula, which can be easily removed for cleaning and replaced. The inner cannula can get clogged with secretions, so having a removable one facilitates regular maintenance.
