A colostomy bag, also known as an ostomy pouch or colostomy pouch, is a medical device used to collect and manage stool (feces) from a surgically created opening in the abdomen called a colostomy. A colostomy is a surgical procedure that involves diverting a portion of the colon (large intestine) through the abdominal wall to create an opening, known as a stoma.
